چکیده

An increasing number of flight research and airborne science experiments now contain networkready systems that could benefit from a high-rate bidirectional air-to-ground network link. A prototype system, the High-Rate Wireless Airborne Network Demonstration, was developed from commercial off-the-shelf components while leveraging the existing telemetry infrastructure on the Western Aeronautical Test Range. This approach resulted in a cost-effective, long-range, line-of-sight network link over the S and the L frequency bands using both frequency modulation and shaped-offset quadrature phase-shift keying modulation. This paper discusses system configuration and the flight test results.

Wireless Local Area Network Flight Demonstration for High Doppler Conditions

n the late 1990s, the U.S. Army’s Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) adapted wireless local area network technologies to provide test data acquisition over a large portion of that test range. YPG implemented a ground-based infrastructure that supplies two-way wireless network connectivity and seamless data acquisition for multiple, simultaneous test activities and data sources. YPG and APL, under the Tw...

Adaptive Nonlinear Controller Synthesis and Flight Test Evaluation On an Unmanned Helicopter

Numerous simulation studies have recently revealed the potential benefits of a neural network-based approach to direct adaptive control in the design of flight control systems. Foremost among the potential benefits is greatly reduced dependence on high-fidelity modeling of system dynamics. However, the methodology has only recently been proven practical by demonstration in an actual flight syst...
